The Shenzhen Consumer Council commissioned the Municipal Quality and Consumer Research Institute to conduct chemical index tests on dozens of plastic mobile phone cases on the market, and found that some mobile phone cases contained a variety of harmful substances, which exceeded the limit by 1550 times.


In a certain high temperature environment, the phone case will release harmful substances such as formaldehyde and benzene.


In 2018, the Shenzhen Consumer Council released an experimental effect on mobile phone cases at a press conference. The organization tested more than 30 plastic mobile phone cases from 28 brands, including Apple and Xiaomi mobile phone cases. Among them, the test results show that the content of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in Apple mobile phone cases exceeds the limit by nearly 50 times, and the plasticizer content of Xiaomi mobile phone cases exceeds the limit... These substances have a risk of cancer.


Plasticizers may induce liver cancer. Plasticizers are often used in plastic products, and they are also used as food additives in some foods. However, there are strict regulations on the amount in the world. The tolerance of plasticizers per person per day is 0.025 mg per kilogram. Long-term intake of plasticizers or excessive consumption of plasticizers may cause endocrine disorders in women, damage to male fertility, and even cause liver cancer.


Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are strong carcinogens. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are hydrocarbons. It has more than 200 organizational forms. It is produced during organic processing, waste, and combustion, and is distributed in the environment where we live. It is a very common environmental and food pollutant. The polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the mobile phone case are produced during the processing and production process. Only by continuously improving the process can it be possible to reduce the content of the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the mobile phone case.


The International Cancer Research Center believes that polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons have carcinogenic properties and are strong carcinogens. Once PAHs accidentally enter the human body, they may cause damage to the kidneys, liver, spleen, etc. When the residual PAHs in the body accumulate excessively, they may also cause organ cancers, such as skin cancer, lung cancer, stomach cancer and liver cancer. Wait.

Gong Yan, director of the Environmental Standards Committee of the China Environmental Protection Federation and associate professor of the School of Materials Science and Technology of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, made suggestions for consumers:


Don’t choose a phone case that is too bright in color


Because bright colors may contain a lot of heavy metals, frequent contact will enter the human body through the skin, and have a certain destructive effect on the kidneys and liver. Those transparent plastic phone cases that are prone to yellowing and discoloration are relatively safe.


Do not choose phone cases that have a pungent smell and choking eyes


The emitted gas is likely to be harmful to the body aldehydes and benzene substances.


Shen players feel too soft or too hard, faded


Benzene-based organic solvents are likely to remain in the production process of such products.


Choose pure leather or silicone phone case


It is recommended to buy a phone case made of pure leather or silicone made by a regular manufacturer. Do not choose plastic products, because plastic products may contain toxic and harmful plasticizers.
